OTHER CHARITIES AND CAUSES
Owner's Selection
There are many other charities related to Autism that actually support autistic people. I have experience in these charities as an autistic person, so if you want to donate to an autism charity or cause, then these are probably the best choices. In no particular order, these are my top 3:
1. The National Autistic Society
This is the main UK Autism charity that aims to raise awareness of, but ultimately bring acceptance to autism They spend their money on schools for severe autism, video production to spread acceptance and bringing people together so they can improve their social skills and ultimately make friends.

2. The Autism Society of America
This is the best alternative to Autism Speaks and instead of wanting to cure us, they want to "maximize our quality of life, make sure we are treated with the highest level of dignity, and live in a society in which our talents and skills are appreciated and valued"

3. AutCraft
This last one is slightly different. Autcraft isn't a charity as such, but it's a place where many autistic people (like myself) feel a lot safer and happier. AutCraft is a minecraft server at the heart of reward winning research papers and it has changed the lives of many. It is protected from trolls (people who make fun of others in games) by extra things in the server like protection of builds, filters on specific words and phrases and a whitelist, which means you have to apply to get on the server and once some basic checks are done or a few questions are asked, you are allowed into this community.
People have joined AutCraft being extremely limited by Autism, but as time has gone on they have become able to do more and more things.
This is my personal favourite out of the three.
